This book had a lot of great elements - characters I liked, whose stories I wanted to follow and explore, the wonderful backdrop of New York City in a way that reminded me of the best parts of Dash & Lily, the realistic depiction of conflicting wishes and emotions of teenagehood.
But the contrived mommy-search situation didn't work for me at all. It was a whole lot of emotionally manipulative puppeteering on behalf of the author, which resulted in grotesquely out-of-character stupidity for the plot.
Reading this book was like watching your favorite amazingly talented actors star in a sadly mediocre play. Such a waste!
