I’ve read many popular books on quantum mechanics and its history, and I think this book is one of the best ones yet. Beck covers the history of quantum mechanics well, albeit with an eye toward interpretations. He explained EPR (though not correctly in the version I read, since corrected in an errata and later printings), gave Bell extensive coverage (as it should be), explained several of the more popular interpretations well (pilot-wave theory, decoherence, many-worlds), and rightly dissed the orthodox Copenhagen interpretation. I only raised my eyebrows a few times when, for example, he seemed to defend the many-worlds interpretation and raised it philosophically higher than it really should be. I enjoyed his discussion on Bohm and how badly he and his pilot-wave theory were treated. Highly recommended for anyone exploring the meaning of the quantum!
