I wanted to read this book because I've made it my goal this year to explore new authors. This series has been recommended on Tiktok and Instagram so many times that I bought the whole series. I really enjoyed this storyline, and it was a very interesting read.

This book has two points of views. The first one is Alex Volkov. He is described as a devil with the face of an angel and cursed with a past he can’t forget. He is driven by a tragedy that has haunted him for most of his life, his ruthless pursuits for success and vengeance leaves little room for other matters in his heart. But when his best friend Josh s leaving the country to go and volunteer, he is asked to look after Josh’s sister Ava. Whilst looking after her, he feels something in his chest: a crack, a melt, a fire that could end his world as he knew it. The other point of view is Ava Chen. She is described as a free spirit who is trapped by the nightmares of a childhood can’t remember. Even though she has a broken past, she has never stopped seeing the beauty in the world . . . including the heart beneath the icy exterior of a man she shouldn’t want. Her brother’s best friend. Her neighbour. Her saviour and her downfall. A love like theirs was never supposed to happen but when it does, it unleashes secrets that could destroy them both and everything they hold dear.

I really enjoyed this book, I liked the tension and the chemistry between Ava and Alex and how it was a sort of slow burn. The plot twists I really didn’t see coming. I liked the storyline and thought it was fast paced. I love Ava, I would love to be as strong as Ava one day. I loved the dual POV - I always love dual POVs, I think the give so much to the story. I also really love Josh, I think he was a great character, and I would love to see more of him in the series. I wouldn’t say there was any weaknesses, I just prefer longer chapters, but I understand why Ana did it this way due to the suspense. The cliff hanger at the end made me want more – I want to know more about this friendship group.

I enjoyed this book and I cannot wait for the next book in the series. I hope we get to see more of Ava and Alex in the next book. I think Ana has just gone on my list of insta-buy authors.
