A Man Among Ye Volume 1 by Stephanie Phillips

3.0

I mainly bought this comic because of the cover-art by [a:Stjepan Šejić|617155|Stjepan Šejić|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1367184066p2/617155.jpg] - even if I didn't get that cover - so I didn't really have any thoughts back or forth of what to expect. I'd even forgotten what the comic was about before I started reading it!

It's loosely based on historical records of the female pirates Anne Bonny and Mary Read. Considering how little we know about them, anything would have to be loosely based on those records.
The story is what one might expect of a pirate-story. There's blood and guts and harshness and fighting. Cursing and backstabbing. It's not bad, but it wasn't amazing either.

The art was ok. It felt very comicy to me, which is a style I'm not the biggest fan of, but I don't mind it either.

I will probably keep reading the series, but I won't be hunting it out, if you know what I mean.
