House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas

5.0

I loved this book. I spent the last third of the story wrapped up in a chair, shooting daggers at my boyfriend every time he tried to talk to me or give me food, just being drowned in the story and characters and plottwists. Loved. It.
I am so excited for the next installment in this series.

Being someone who loves characters and their relationships, I thought it could do with a bit more fleshing out of characters, especially Hunt - however, this keeps me very interested in this series and hoping for more glimpses of his past in the nest book.
What I did like about him was his growth and willingness of accepting his own prejudices for what they were and learning from them.
Bryce is wonderful as a character, cool, feminine, relatable and human (even though she's half-fae). She's not perfect, but who is? A party girl who knows what she likes and is not ashamed of it, I like that as a character. It's different from the shy-nerd-girl-trope and why can't someone be both?
I also really liked the side characters. There was a wide variety of them and everyone of them was interesting. Very, very curious how they are going to come into play in the rest of the series.

This may be one of my less coherent and interesting reviews and I blame that on me just being too much into the story to think about formulating an opinion. And that's a good thing. I have not one quote underlined, because even if I thought about underlining anything, I didn't want to take the time underlining, I wanted to keep reading. I just loved it. And I can't wait for the rest of this series. Or did I say that already?
