An Eye for an Eye by Carol Wyer
4.0

This is a first in a police-procedural series and my first Carol Wyer book. When a vulnerable and dedicated detective with PTSD is pulled out of medical leave to solve the murder of a well-known businessman, she finds she cannot trust anyone including those close to her.

DI Kate Young has gone through a traumatic event that almost cost her her career. The nightmares, hallucinations, and panic attacks are always around the corner, but she manages to keep it together and with dogged determination track down a cool and calculating murderer.

This solid whodunit has a long list of suspects and some interesting symbolic murders. Although it took me some time to figure out all of the necessary characters, the story had some shockingly clever surprises and an ending worth picking up the next book in the series.

I recommend this engaging police procedural with an unreliable narrator and psychological twists and turns where not everyone and everything is as they seem.

Thank you to Ms. Wyer for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
