I absolutely loved this book so, so much!! This was an emotional rollercoaster to say the least. I laughed and cried with these characters and felt so deeply for them. This book really ripped my heart out of my chest and put it back together again. This gets my infinity star rating!! I loved this with every fiber of my being.

This follows our fmc, Dylan. Her mother has moved Dylan and her twin brother, Beckett, to the small town of Rockport, Oregon at the beginning of their senior year. This book deals very heavily with addiction and abuse. Their mother is an alcoholic and her alcoholism leads her to be very verbal and emotionally abusive towards her children. Because of this, Dylan and Beckett have plans to leave town the second they graduate.

Beckett plays football and after practice one day, Brooke, our mmc, invites him to a bonfire. Beckett goes and bring his very reluctant sister. Dylan ends up meeting Brooks and they immediately connect and their friendship and relationship begins.

This is told in a dual timeline, which I loved. In present day, ten years have passed and Dylan hasn't been back to Rockport since she fled. Now she must face everything and everyone she left behind, including Brooks.

I loved how real and raw all these characters in this book were. I loved how both Dylan and Brooks had so much emotional depth – they felt so real to me. Their relationship was so wholesome. The way they were able to comfort each other, just listen and be there for one another was so beautiful. Watching Dylan and Brooks fall in love, fall apart and put the pieces back together again pulled at all my heartstrings. I loved the sibling relationship between Dylan and Beckett as well. It was really the two of them against the world.

The writing was so beautiful and descriptive. I loved the small, beach town setting, the friends Dylan and Beckett make and the themes of strength, grief, hope and love.

I cannot recommend this book enough!! This was a stunning debut and I cannot wait to read more in this series and more from Micah!!!
