This is an insightful book, discussing race and racism in the US viscerally and in a brutally honest way. However, having only read one of Toni Morrison's books (Sula), I found that I wasn't able to fully understand many of the references that Morrison was making in these essays. If you have ready more of her works then this is a must-read but unfortunately there were many sections that I couldn't fully appreciate because of this lack of context on my part.
