Geektastic: Stories from the Nerd Herd by Cecil Castellucci, Holly Black

4.0

I had wanted to read this book as soon as Holly Black mentioned it in her blog. I'm a fan of several of the authors included in the anthology, as well as the two artists (O'Malley and Larson) who drew comics for the book, so I was curious to see how they were going to approach the subject of geeks and nerds and spin it in their way.

Overall, they did a good job. I think it's remarkable that they managed to cover a wide enough spectrum of geek interests, yet at the same time remaining true to the core that binds all flavors of geeks together, that is, the passion for the hobby/lifestyle. That's definitely why it resonated with me, because I could see (aspects of) myself or my friends in the stories.
