✨️ Book Review - FANTASTIC ROMANTASY DEBUT! ✨️
A Crown of Tears and Treason (The Curse of Silver Secrets and Cruel Shadows duology book 1) by Vera Raye
Pages: 573
Vibes: 5 ✨️
Technical: 4.75 ✨️
𝑨 𝑪𝒓𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝑻𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑻𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒐𝒏 is a delicious slow burn, enemies-to-lovers romantasy with witty banter and secrets/blood oaths.
🖤 𝑬𝒗𝒊𝒆 and 𝙕𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙮𝙧. I loved their build up and banter was everything. I also loved that he calls her ‘𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘤𝘦’ from the beginning. This book has dual POV but is told mainly through Evie’s POV.
The pace is steady while we learn about her adjusting to her new home with Blood Brotherhood Clan. She comes into her powers, learns to fight and defend herself, and tries to figure out who she can trust. But the prince is keeping a secret (because of a blood oath) which just might destroy the bond they had created.
I rated this debut 4.75 and the only reason I took off a smidget is because the FMC became a little too reflective and it became a little repetitive at times. BUT that is it. 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙁𝘼𝙉𝙏𝘼𝙎𝙏𝙄𝘾 𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙨𝙮 𝙙𝙚𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙥𝙪𝙩 𝙤𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙩𝙗𝙧. It will have you kicking your feet and rooting the FMC and MMC on. The book is well written and easy to follow. Great character depth. The pace is steady, not fast but not slow, it kept my attention. The ending was 𝕤𝕙𝕠𝕔𝕜𝕚𝕟𝕘. I didn’t see the ending coming. I will definitely read book 2 to find out what happens next. I love how this is a duology so I will get closer with the next book.
Unique aspects to this book:
🌟I found the take on fated mates in this book fascinating.
🌟There is a great Oracle in the book who publicly reads your fate in front of everyone. That scene was intense. Loved it.
🌟The weddings in this book have different specific stages unique to each Clan. So intriguing.
🌟Loved the nazdrans, rare magical horses that stay hidden from mortals. One arrives for the most powerful Clans every generation, attracted to magic.
