A Very Punchable Face by Colin Jost

funny lighthearted fast-paced

4.0

Colin Jost is one of my favorite comedians whom I love watching on SNL's weekend update. Before reading this book though, I didn't know much about his background or the fact that he was a writer on the show for a long time before ever appearing on camera. It was interesting, entertaining, and at times quite disgusting to read about his childhood, his time at Harvard, and his time on SNL. My favorite chapter was one that gave some background on Jost's most successful and memorable sketches that he was involved in at SNL.

I had some issues with the level of fatphobia that were expressed as he reflected on his childhood, as well as the descriptions of stand-up and late-night comedy culture that lacked any mention of Jost's privilege in those areas.

I would recommend this book for sure if you are a fan of Colin Jost or SNL! It was a pretty quick read, and it had me laughing out loud!
