Wildest Dreams
by Kristen Ashley
So, I honestly enjoyed this book, and it's probably rated a 3.5. However, it did have some issues for me.
The book is about a young woman, named Finnie, who is adventurous, and lives life to the fullest. Sadly though, after 15 years, she still mourns the loss of her parents. She discovers the fact there is a parallel universe, where in it each person has a twin. She arranges with a witch to have herself and her twin switch places; both of which are aware and agreeable. Upon being transferred, she discovers that her twin left out some major details; like the fact she was to be getting married to The Drakkar imminently.
The story mainly follows Finne and Drakkar's relationship, which I was fine with. There were a lot of fun bits of lore added in the book, for example the dragons, elves, and the fact the people of the world could communicate with animals. The problem is, they all were mentioned mostly in passing and took a very large back seat to the relationship with Finne and Drakkar. As I said, it wasn't a bad thing, but I would have loved more actual meat to the lore she introduced!
The other issue I had was the amount of place descriptions. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy for a writer to paint a picture for me- with both place settings and character looks/attire. It just felt that a vast portion of the book was locked in Finnie's head describing what she saw. That being said, Kristen Ashley did a fine job with these descriptions. They were worded very well, and the images in mind were quite beautiful based off her descriptions. I think I could have done with just a 'wee' bit less of them.
The last issue I had was with The Drakkar himself,
Honestly though, the book was well written and despite the negative points, I really did enjoy it still. Finnie was a delightful character, not whiny, or over the top spoiled and harsh as many heroines are. Another understated character, that I would very much have loved to see more of was Valentine. Frankly, many of the characters in the book were fantastic and had great personalities! Characters can make or break a book for me, and because she did so well with them, it definitely helped me overlook the negatives.
If you are looking for a fantasy book, with heavy focus on the romance between the characters and lots of sexy time, but are okay without a lot of deep delving lore and moments of proportional battle epicness, then this is the one for you! I did very much enjoy Kristen Ashley's actual writing, it flowed nicely and was a cozy read. I look forward to reading the sequels to her world (In which I have heard are even better!)

as it was a bit hard for me to get past the way he manipulated Finnie, by binding her to the world and trapping her into a pregnancy. So, despite his otherwise, hotness.. he left a very bad taste in my mouth that I rarely get with characters, that I am suppose to root for. I enjoy an alpha male, and one can certainly act like an ass and still be enjoyed by me; but Drakkar's manipulation was well above being an alpha male. Of course, I understand that the women of the world were almost nothing more than property to the men, but laws or not- wrong is wrong; and that was just wrong! However, he did redeem himself by owning up to it all- which is more than I can say for most men!Honestly though, the book was well written and despite the negative points, I really did enjoy it still.
