This is a great start to a new series! I fell for Jagger Cole's Dark Hearts series in 2023 and I have become a huge fan. I was excited to see how he would set up this new series that has ties to Dark Hearts.
Dante Sartorre was introduced in the previous series as the owner of Club Venom. I was very intrigued by his character and he did not disappoint in this book. He needs a wife in order to keep his club, so he has an arranged marriage with the Black family. Tempest Black is dying from a liver disease, but has been hiding it from her family. Her grandfather's younger 18 year old daughter is being forced into an arranged marriage with Dante. Her brother's hate him because they blame him for the death of their other sister. Tempest steps in and tricks Dante by signing the blood marker so she could take her place.
There are a lot of secrets and both of the character's have hidden agendas. There are a lot of twists, some I didn't see coming, and some I did. Jagger Cole always builds the conflict and the 3rd act gets intense. It had such a unique setup, with the heroine dying and I kept wondering how this would lead to an HEA.
Dante is very intelligent and powerful. He uses information on people to get what he wants. He is not in the mafia, but has slight mafia ties. Tempest was such a strong and feisty heroine. These tow characters had a great dynamic and the sexual chemistry was fire. The heroine has experienced severe trauma in her past and the scene where BDSM was used in a healing way made this book a 5 star for me. It was such a moving, emotional, and sexy scene.
I am very excited to continue with the rest of the series. Jagger Cole is a top auto buy author for me now.
