A book with an often suppressed yet important story, masterfully written. Filled with many great descriptions and contemplations of the life of migrants in Western Europe, skillful representation of Algeria and its history (and therefore French history regarding their handling of Algeria and other colonised territories), and descriptions of raw and beautifully human emotions and actions. The writing style made a 400+ page book feel like a breeze, while still offering comprehensible thoughts and analyses, with many quotable statements.
