The Guest Lecture by Martin Riker

reflective

3.75

Finally, a refreshing piece of fiction set in academia that skips the cliché professor-student affair angle. It's funny, charming, and at times, Abby's reflections can be a bit annoying. While the portrayal of diversity in academia feels a tad unrealistic, the author cleverly weaves in J.M. Keynes's economic policy of pragmatic optimism into Abby's story without overlooking her life events. Overall, it's a good read. I'd give it around 3.5/3.75 out of 5.
