Trading in Danger by Elizabeth Moon

5.0

A bit of a surprise really, hadn't read any Elizabeth Moon since 2004, so was not too familiar with her style, pace etc.

The story line was not too original, daughter fallen from grace, is given a position in the family shipping business and makes good of it. But the telling is exceptional. Details of trading life, contracts and embassies and "Captain's guilds" were fascinating to me, as was the development of the main character, through traits that were becoming of a ships captain to those more suited to a mercenary.

Highly enjoyed this book and would recommend. A bit of a break from strictly military Sci-fi.
