This book covers the whole eating system, from entry to exit (so not just the gut).  It is a fascinating read and I rarely glazed over due do too much science.  Written in a light-hearted and easily-accessible style and with very clear explanations of WHY something is true (e.g. we all know we should eat more fibre, but exactly why should we?).  Covers bacteria and other related topics too.
