God Emperor of Dune by Frank Herbert

4.75

4.75 stars rounding up to 5 for GoodReads. This one was super interesting and once again focused heavily on themes rather than plot or character. There is a lot more dialogue in this one than in the earlier installments which Brian Herbert points out in his introduction of my edition. It is obvious that this is the case almost from the first chapter alone which was very interesting. The themes of an all-seeing/all-knowing God was very interesting to explore in this expanded Dune world 3500 years in the future. The ending was also expected but still enrapturing. The inclusion of the journal passages in the beginning of each chapter was also very Dune and put me right back into the universe. I am very interested to see where the story goes after this because I don't actually know much of these last two books written by Frank Herbert. I had some pacing issues with this one at times but still very much enjoyed what was explored.
