I read this as this chronologically comes next after the This Winter Heartstopper novella, and I did like it. I felt as though I only really started to enjoy it towards the end of the book though.
I think whilst I did relate to the secondary school experience of Tori, the writing is obviously not aimed at me, but someone who is going through that period of school would relate much more to the writing style and the events.
I generally wasn't enthralled by this though, and found it hard to want to pick up in parts. I felt as though the final third of the book was the most interesting and this is where I found it impossible to put down. I feel as though the book should have been more mysterious throughout to keep the readers attention. I also basically called who was involved with Solitaire from the beginning so this was perhaps part of the reason why I needed it to be more mysterious.
However, I loved Nick and Charlie's involvement of course, and I really enjoyed Michael's character. I thought he was so sweet and such a charismatic and wonderful person. I also felt the mental health was portrayed well, and didn't feel it was romanticised. It was told from a first person point of view, and whilst it wasn't the most graphic description, it painted it right for the audience, being dark but not gratuitous.
