A Song of Wraiths and Ruin by Roseanne A. Brown

4.0

A Song of Wraiths and Ruin arrests the reader from the first chapter by introducing characters as refugees. The story has a rich magical system, with descriptive imagery and culture, skillfully interwoven with mental health struggles. Both main characters have interesting backstories. The first protagonist is humble and endearing, while the second protagonist (a haughty princess) is strong but appropriately not likeable for much of the story. The story keeps the reader wondering how these characters will reach their goals of destroying each other. A Song of Wraiths and Ruin is a vivid and intricate tale, enjoyable for any fantasy reader.
