Gäst hos verkligheten by Robin Fulton, Pär Lagerkvist

4.0

"Guest of Reality" in Swedish. 1949. I suspect that the book is based on Lagerkvist's childhood? The first part is mesmerizing in its reflection of childhood memories and growing up in the countryside. Lagerkvist definitely weaves a realism that evokes summer days from the past. Still, it seems as the book is extremely focused on the perception of death followed by the complication of faith. It becomes a book that definitely will linger in its multitude of meanings. Hmm, it is probably worthwhile to explore some other of Lagerkvist's works.
