Five-Star Review: Elevator Pitch by Evelyn Leigh - A 2024 Favorite

Elevator Pitch by Evelyn Leigh is hands down one of my top reads of 2024! The story follows Selah, a Black FMC who is almost 30, a survivor of domestic abuse with a “f*ck it” list and no intention of getting serious. From the first chapter, I related to her so much, especially as a Black woman navigating corporate America. She’s witty, strong, and unapologetically herself, and her character depth is amazing.

Then there’s Greyson, a Korean MMC and dating app founder, who’s honestly a perfect “book boyfriend.” The dynamic between Selah and Greyson is hilarious and heartwarming. I found myself laughing out loud when Selah’s reading on the elevator just as she’s about to step into an enemies-to-lovers situation with him. (If you know, you know!) Their chemistry shines, and the way Greyson dives into her book recommendations is the kind of dream every bookworm hopes for.

The supporting cast adds even more fun to the mix. Greyson’s mom bonding with Selah over books is priceless, and Eric brings laugh-out-loud humor throughout. Selah’s relationship with her mom is another high point; the love and respect between them made me a little jealous! And the therapy representation is fantastic. Not only is Selah actively in therapy, but Evelyn Leigh puts almost everyone in therapy, saying, “we’re not passing trauma on to any more generations.”

Elevator Pitch is spicy and filled with genuine character growth, showing both Selah and Greyson taking on their pasts while building something real together. If you’re looking for a smart, relatable romance with depth, humor, and a whole lot of heart, this is it. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series, because Selah and Greyson’s circle is full of people I’m dying to know more about!
