Rooftops of Tehran
by Mahbod Seraji
This was a very stunning coming of age story. it was also filled with violence and terror since it’s set in Iran at a time period when their country was on the verge of a revolution. The main story is told through the experiences of two young boys, and two young women. The narrator is Pasha. Pasha and his friends start in a time of innocence, and then 2 brutal events happen. Seraji also includes references to the Iranian culture and how they grieve as a community. Mainly this is a story of love, friendship and community. The writing is lyrical.
