Dark Matter by Blake Crouch

5.0

Dark Matter is out of my comfort zone, but I devoured this book. Crouch makes the sci-fi basis of the plot both plausible and wild. Every time that I thought that I knew what was coming, the plot took a turn. Unlike some novels, where twists and turns mostly feel like devices to jerk the reader around, here they felt like logical steps in a rapidly plotted thrill ride. Beyond the fast-paced plot, Crouch gives the reader characters to invest in. I genuinely felt for this man and his family. Most impressively, Crouch turns what could be a great but forgettable thriller into a book that stays with the reader by asking us to consider what our lives might be like if any one decision that we made changed.
