Alexander Hamilton
by Ron Chernow
For a 700-page book about a founding father, this was super readable, so I give the author a lot of credit for that. Overall, if you want a way to dig into the intrigue around why Hamilton inspired Lin-Manuel Miranda to write the musical Hamilton, I really recommend this. My only beef was that there was quite a bit of speculation about things we would have no way to know - “clearly Hamilton felt this way...,” which made it feel less academic. It’s hard to picture this being used in a college class.
