I love when the main female characters in a book are chaotic, and Jordan Vanderfleet delivers her daily dose of chaos to this story. Jordan has a complicated relationship with her family, which makes her constantly run away from her feelings and from people. She thrives in chaos and in pleasing others. She lives by three simple rules centered around never falling in love, which leads her to have many one-night stands and avoid commitment.

We also follow Preston Charming, whose last name fits him perfectly. He has a charming, sunshine personality and has had a crush on Jordan for years. However, he never acted on his feelings, knowing about his best friend’s struggles with commitment and her refusal to fall in love.

Breaking the Ice was a fun yet emotional read. The book was fast-paced, making me want to keep reading until the very end. We get to see Jordan slowly realize her feelings for Preston, and how this both breaks and frightens her. She wants to give in to her feelings, but her fear of Preston leaving her is even stronger.

Preston and Jordan have an amazing friendship and relationship. I love when couples start as friends and transition to lovers because of all the easy banter and emotional conversations that develop, as well as the deep understanding they share. Preston understood Jordan at times when she didn’t even know what she truly wanted or why she was so scared ❤️

If you are looking for a friends-to-lovers romance with a heroines who is a little messy but deeply relatable with a side of banter then this book is for you 🤭
