Mockingbird by Walter Tevis

A friend lent me this book with his recommendation. I'd never heard of Tevis. Finished this in a day and have thoroughly enjoyed it. There is nothing startling about the premise - dystopian world in which robots effectively rule over drugged up humans whose numbers are dwindling. The development of the characters and the relationships at the heart of the novel make it, however, unusually gripping.
