Oh Crap! Potty Training: Everything Modern Parents Need to Know to Do It Once and Do It Right by Jamie Glowacki

4.0

Seems like good logical information. She is all about NOT using rewards, but instead high expectations and taking the time to teach your child step by step with lots of scaffolding. She has them broken down into 6 phases. Phase 1-naked Phase 2 - commando Phase 3 - commando with outings Phase 4 - underwear Phase 5 -self initiation and Phase 6 - night training. Each child competes one phase at a time before moving on to the next. There's not specific time periods because every kid is different.

If it seems to work and I like her methods I'll update this with 5 stars and let you know what I thought.

Update 3/10/18
I don't totally agree with her on the rewards thing. I think whatever works for your child, then do it. Try without them first and if you hit a wall then try rewards. I used them with my son and they were either neutral, he liked them and it helped, or he totally forgot about them. It just depended on the day, the reward, and where we were at with potty training.

I wish she would have described more about the self initiation step. She just glossed over it and said it would come. That seems to be the step we are trying to master after 2 months of practicing and working on potty training.

So I'm keeping my same rating after trying her method. 4 stars.

Also, I did NOT appreciate how many swear words were in the book. That part bugged me a lot.
