Twilight / Life and Death by Stephenie Meyer
3.0
I read the Twilight books way back in 2009 and I remember being obsessed with the story. I couldn't get my hands on the next book fast enough. It was like I was under the spell of a mysteriously hot yet disturbingly controlling vampire. It was bizarre. I had been Bella-ized. Reading the gender-swap version of Twilight was a fun but strange experience.
I like Beau better than Bella. He's a nice guy: he takes care of his parents but he doesn't seem to mind it, he's not bitter or angsty like Bella, and...there's not much else you can say about him. I just couldn't feel much depth with his character so I never got caught up in this version of the story. Also, the sexy, romantic tension of the original seemed to be lacking in this retelling.
Overall I did like the story and I enjoyed seeing the ladies take charge but I didn't feel any of the enthrallment that I experienced with the original novels. Worth reading if you're a Twilight fan.
