The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende

5.0

I read this book for an Intro to Hispanic Literature class and it was actually very good and unique. Isabel Allende is a phenomenal writer and the story of the Chilean family she follows was tragic, fun, and captivating from beginning to end. I also got to write an essay on some of the themes in this book so now my copy is densely highlighted and tagged with sticky notes and will be a beloved book on my shelf. I hope to read it again and watch the movie adaption, only because Meryl Streep stars in it which means it may actually be almost as good as the book. 10/10 recommend, especially if you enjoy a good generational saga like Pachinko. :)
