To be honest, I'm not a Teen Titans fan. I never have been. I've got nothing against their arc, I just never watched any of the shows or connected with any of the characters. But when I saw that this little series was getting good ratings and reviews, I thought I'd try it out. Thankfully, it's completely okay to start on Volume #2, because that's exactly what I did.

The artwork is what shines here. It's big, friendly, welcoming, and splashing with color. The story and characters both felt pretty juvenile, though I know that is typical for the audience. However, a few writing decisions could have made the story stronger. Some character actions or sayings made the writers seem out of touch (e.g. Atlas Shrugged being assigned to a high schooler, Stella donating to PETA, Gar making weird judgment calls, Stella being a poorly written "gamer girl", etc.). Still, it was a fun and quick read that only barely began to touch on Gar's new abilities and leaves the reader wanting to see more.
