The Cater Street Hangman by Anne Perry

4.0

3.5/5 rounded up. I enjoyed my experience reading the book overall, but it really was only okay. The writing was solid, plenty of characters, and a lot of relationships making the “world” feel full.

Quick hits:
- Not much mystery, more character focused with little plot.
- Too many perspective changes, I didn’t really care about what certain characters were thinking.
- A lot of drama which is tangentially related to the crime at best.
- Charlotte and Thomas were fun to watch interact and what I looked forward to the most.
- I wish Pitt was there more frequently.

If you’re interested in more of a period drama with the lightest hint of mystery, I’d recommend. But it’s completely in the background compared to the entirety of Charlotte’s family.
