blueberryelle 's review for:
The Magic Fish
by Trung Le Nguyen
I loved this. A story about a mother trying to connect with her son and a queer child of immigrants unsure whether or how to come out to his parents, but also interspersed with gorgeous retellings of fairytales. (Though the one told by the Vietnamese auntie was a bit scary.)
It was so sweet!
And the creator’s explanations for the visual concepts of each fairytale give a greater depth of meaning to them.
I would’ve kept reading it for ages if there had been more!
