Urban fantasy set in rural Oklahoma and Denver. Adam goes to save his sister in law Annie from an odd possession even though his brother has treated Adam's magical powers with disdain for his whole life. Adam has been living with his Aunt Sue in a trailer in Oklahoma, chasing objects made by a dark warlock who may be his long lost father. Arriving in Denver, he faces his brother's perfect suburban home and his estranged mother's distance. Adam tries to help, but the skepticism from his mom and brother get in the way of his helping Annie. Eventually Adam figures out a way, with the help of some elves (ugh, he can't stand elves! Like his ex, Parak....). And there's a bit of a love triangle involving a new guy Adam meets.
It's a fun adventure, good character development, and Adam is a perfect protagonist. Can't wait to read the next one! Audio reader was very good.
