let me start by saying this was the authors debut novel so there obviously are things that have improvements to be made but its a nice read if you are looking for an insta love story with a sudden twist
I (like most other ppl) picked this book up because I'm obsessed with the cover (there's even more art throughout the book even πΆπ) all which the author creates herself too!
to be honest I skimmed a few paragraphs which I don't usually do π₯² it took some time for me to get into it until the second half with the heart wrenching reveals I cried rlly hard and I think that's what made me give the extra .25
liora
she wasn't my favourite, her character seemed inconsistent one time she would seem so nice but the other times she was so mean with the hero for no reason, she didn't even have to do anything except be nice in public, which - by the time she had to be - she already was into him and that couldn't have been that hard, she just didn't want to admit it, her hatred toward him was uncalled for but I felt for her backstory and was happy she got her happy ending
Riley
he was ok, except him being a bit too horny he was actually really nice, he wasn't just talk and no act about the not wanting to be successful just for his nepo baby status, he gave free skating classes to kids who couldn't afford it and didn't brag about it
relationship
their dynamic wasn't anything special, for them being in their middle to late 20's they acted more like teenagers, I really did like their steamy scenes tho! especially the first sex scene like the tension and built up until they finally got to bed after bumping into everyone and everything lmao
there was one part that confused me tho and that is their inconsistent age, for example when he confessed to her had had been watching her career since they were young he said she was 15, but during Rileys pov he mentioned Jayce knowing about his obsession with her since HE was 16 BUT they have a 3 year age gap so that does not add up
all in all it's an ok read, you dont get left hanging with open questions, everything that should be addressed gets resolved and we get a cute epilogue!
