Did not know Southern noir was a genre but - yes. I am here for it. This was extremely dark and very atmospheric in a way that feels like it will haunt me. Noir should feel at least a little like an extended existential crisis, imo, and the exploration of faith lent itself to that.
Elaborate ritualistic murders feel unrealistic to the point of being silly to me these days, but despite a lot of that this felt grounded.
