I really enjoyed this book! The opening plot grabs you immediately and is written so well that you can feel the angst of the FMC. Landyn is a 23-year-old college dropout that is being “given” as a bride to a mobster as payment for her father’s debts. Mr. Alba owes the Marino cartel millions of dollars and has no way of paying his debt. Landyn and her parents are being held prisoner and the only way out of the situation is the death of her and her parents. To live, she is forced to marry the MMC Damian, the son of the biggest cartel leader, who is 21 years older than her and has a violent reputation. Landyn is being held in a suite of the resort owned by the Marino cartel, being dressed in a wedding dress she didn’t choose, a hairstyle and makeup she has no say over, and her every movement is watched by armed guards. As they are leaving the resort to go to the church, Landyn thinks “My chariot awaits to deliver me to hell on earth.”

The opener had me glued to my seat reading my Kindle as fast as I could. What a way to start the book. The rest of the book continues with much more angst, terror, and twists. I couldn’t put the Kindle down. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read mafia, suspense, age gap, family betrayal, enemy to lovers, high action, and crime in the family tropes.
