My first impression of this book was how amazing the world building was. I always knew I'd love the setting this book was put in and really loved if more books had this kind of steampunk whole ark setting going on. I loveeed Ophelia but also not. It's difficult to hate of love the characters. I want to say they're complex in their own way but I think that won't be enough.

Thorn was cute but I felt like he wasn't shown enough in this book although I anticipate he'll make more of an appearance in the latter books.

I usually never read slow burn of anything! But this got me really going. The book's easy to read and I could simply read huge portions through one setting. However, the plot is quite slow in unravelling itself. I guess the series really takes it's time and is more of a calm slow read which actually is refreshing.

The magic system here was definitely interesting. Something I never really read before but I'd say it wasn't too complex! Instead it kinda added to whole atmosphere of the book. Ngl I definitely enjoyed this book despite how slow paced it was and am definitely reading the next books. <3
