This is a story about love... and also death. and undeath. and beating things with umbrellas. a surprisingly cozy, brilliantly hilarious, story about love, overcoming eldritch horrors, and finding the strength within yourself, this book had me laughing, it had me gasping, and it had me at the edge of my seat from start to finish. with a cast of characters so lively (pun not intended) that I thought they might leap out of the pages, this is easily my favorite romance I've read so far.
Meet Sebastian. he's dead, sort of. as a Lich, he can't really die. he's only a little obsessed with the beautiful elf who sneaks into his gardens to read books to the dead buried in his cemetery but has never approached her. not until the day comes when she's assaulted on his property. well, call him possessive, but no one hurts HIS Dahlia.
Meet Dahlia, an elf who cannot cast magic, hounded by her evil stepfather, abandoned by her friends, and grieving after her mothers death, she lets herself into the grounds around the abandoned manor for peace and quiet when her stepfathers demands grow to be too much. one day, she's attacked by one of her evil stepfathers minions, who tries to either marry her, or kill her. and since she's not having anything to do with marriage well, lets just say she's very surprised when she wakes up.
With other amazing characters like Agatha, a specter who was once a Banshee. Kevin, a zombie with a trowel for brains. Smith, a slenderman and also a lawyer, Austin, a Frankenstein abomination raised from the dead, and more, you'll never grow bored with their unique and frankly, hilarious interactions.
Be sure to read the content warnings and don't read if your not okay with tentacles, dead things, and a touch of body horror. (okay maybe more than a touch)
