I haven't read a Robin Cook book in decades, but he used to be one of my favorite authors. While I'm waiting for some of my holds to come in at the library I decided to see what RC books were on the shelf. This book was published in 2015. I didn't even realize that Cook was still writing books. This story uses modern security and computing power and has cell phones that double as flashlights. Otherwise the story could have easily been picked up and dropped into the 1990s when I read many other Cook books. The plot is very typical of his other books I've read: medical backdrop, malpractice detected by an unassuming medical professional, threats, assault, and/or murder by thugs, narrow save by the hero/heroin. As predictable as the plot is, Cook has a way of storytelling that draws the reader in. It is definitely a page turner and a good reminder of why I liked his books back in the day.
