Antelope Woman by Louise Erdrich
3.0

I'm not sure I've ever heard of a novelist doing a reboot on her own novel, but here we are. It is somehow disturbing, as if the previous version, The Antelope Wife, has been devalued because the author decided she wasn't done and decided to expand the universe of that book. (Note: I have not read the first version, I just gather that Erdrich added more stuff about the extended families and I think changed the ending.)

As for the content... as ever, I found it difficult to remember the particulars of the family history, who did what, how exactly these people were related to the mythological types in the book. But even I could tell that this was a skillfully crafted narrative. For a person without my unreliable attention span Antelope Woman would be one hell of a read.
