The Crimson Skew by S.E. Grove

4.0

This is the final book of the Mapmakers Trilogy. It continues just after that last book - the Golden Specific ends.

The book continues to split the main characters throughout this book.

Sophia Tims continues her quest to find out what happened to her parents. She her quest is successful by the end of the book but throughout the book, she meets new people and discovers herself as well as learnt more about the different ages.

Sophia's uncle Shadrack Elli is still in Boston where he tries to covertly thwart the Prime Minister, Gordon Broadgirdl and his War. Shadrack finds new allies and discovers that the war was planned months ahead by Gordon Broadgirdl. With this information, the Prime Minister is stopped, leading to the end of the war.

Theo Thackary is conscripted into the army to fight in the war. He deserts and meets up with Sophia later in the book. The both of them, with several allies, try and stop the war in the field.

All in all, this is a satisfying conclusion tot he series. I did find that some scenes were glossed over for narrative purposes and felt a bit disjointed.
