A rare book that has a native American female as the protagonist, this first chapter of the Indian Lake horror trilogy revels in its love of 80s slasher lore and conventions whilst creating an engrossing mystery of its own. Like those movies, it is not concluded in an entirely satisfying manner, but that might be due to the fact that it is only the first part of three. A fun horror read with a complex anti-heroine.
