Flat-Out Matt by Jessica Park

4.0

I loved Matt. He was inlove with Julie, yes, but always prioritized his sister more. I really admired that about him. The way he spoke to Julie the night they fought was very unacceptable though, not to mention hypocritial. Another thing that ticked me off about him was when he posed as his brother online. Yup I hated him for that one. However, he did love Julie and he was so adorable in this one. The way he was around her, they way he would look at her with love even if she was oblivious to it. Also he would take care of her and make her happy even if the credit all went to his brother, Finn. He was very selfless and adorable. My chest cant help but ache whenever he realizes Julie could never be into him the way he loved her.

I loved Flat-out Love because it focused on rebuilding yourself after a devastating loss, and also about family. There was romance but it wasnt the main thing in the book. I also liked that it wasnt cheesy when the romance finally came around. (However, I didnt understand the appeal the skydiving conversation they had. That was very weird to me.) In this book however, romance was given a bit more emphasis. And it showed with that ending scene. But I was happy for Matt. Something good was finally happening to him after everything hes been through and everything hes had to deal with.
