I grew up watching 19 Kids and Counting but didn’t really keep up or watch Counting On, so everything I knew came from articles or more recently TikToks. I was pleasantly surprised by the book. I think it’s well written and I admire Jill’s commitment to telling her story and hers only. She mentions the family but only in how it pertains to her and her relationships with them. It’s not a tell all, but what it tells paints a picture of what it was like for her growing up Duggar. Religion is mentioned but not in way that feels like it’s being forced down your throat or that you are being preached at. Overall, you can see how Jill (and Derick) have deconstructed and grown and I hope they continue to do so.
