Australia Day by Stan Grant

emotional informative reflective medium-paced

4.0

This a very interesting read, and It was more than what I was expecting. Whilst it did go over the Australia day public holiday and why people are upset about it or why people want to celebrate it, it also goes deeper in to the history of Australia and the Aboriginal's fight to be acknowledge and the injustices that they have faced and still do. It asks the reader to really think and question events.

This is a book that is worth reading, whether you are Australian or not. It brings up lots of points that can evoke conversations for other native people, and even other minorities. I also think this book would make for  an interesting read for Year 11s and Year 12s here in Australia, and lead to some great discussions in class about topics like this.
