Ok this was fun! A book about three authors writing a book together written by three authors who write books together. I’ve been a fan of Team W (Beatriz Williams, Lauren Willig & Karen White) for forever so when I saw they were coming out with a new book I jumped on it. This is definitely different than their previous books which were historical fiction. It’s a murder mystery full of cheeky humor, cutting satire, a little history & a bit of romance. Set in Scotland on a remote island three female authors have come for a writing retreat at the historic Castle Kinloch to write a book together. But when their host, the famous author, Brett Saffron Presley is found dead they become the prime suspects. As Detective Chief Inspector McIntosh investigates the murder we realize that each of these authors have their own agendas for being here… It’s a page turning whodunnit full of secrets, rivalries & tangled pasts. Heads up for some dark sexual undertones & off page rape. But even with these heavier themes it’s kept light with all the satire. It’s a bit ridiculous & quirky but totally entertaining & kept me giggling. My favorite character might have been Beatrice the pet sheep 😂 I strongly suggest the fantastic full cast audio with all the fun Scottish accents.
