Shadow Princess by Susanne Valenti, Caroline Peckham
4.0

I went into Shadow Princess expecting chaos, and I still wasn't ready. This book grabbed me by the throat and refused to let go. From the first page, I was completely consumed by the darkness, the angst, and the absolute madness that is life at Zodiac Academy.

Tory and Darcy are pushed to their absolute limits in this installment, and I genuinely felt every moment of their struggle. The emergence of shadow magic adds such a compelling, dangerous layer, not just to the plot, but to their relationships as well. The way their magic ties them to Darius and Orion? Yeah, my emotions were all over the place.

The character development in this book is phenomenal. It’s messy, raw, and incredibly real. I found myself both loving and hating certain characters at different points, which is exactly what I want from a series like this. Nothing is black and white, and that’s what makes it so gripping. The bond between the twins is stronger than ever, but the world around them is crumbling, and the stakes just keep climbing.

What really got me, though, were the emotional gut-punches. Peckham and Valenti do not hold back—they will break your heart and make you thank them for it. Some scenes made me gasp, scenes that made me want to throw the book, and scenes that left me speechless.

This is not a light read. It’s intense, dramatic, and brutal—but that’s exactly what I love about it. Shadow Princess is easily one of the strongest entries in the Zodiac Academy series so far, and it left me desperate to see what comes next
