Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting when I picked up this book, but I definitely expecting a bit more than I was given.
This story fell very flat for me. Maybe it's because it's a dystopian and I'm not very interested in that anymore, but I had problems with more than just the plot. I felt like this was too fast-paced and I didn't have time to develop any real connections with the characters, even Juliette.
I also truly cannot stand the romantic interactions, but to me it isn't much about love, it's mostly about lust. I understand Juliette's obsession with being about to touch someone, but I just don't think it's realistic that every time she and (insert name) are remotely alone they're trying to rip each other's clothes off. I also just cringe at the way the romance scenes are written.
I think it's an interesting concept, but the only thing that I really liked about this book was that it went by quickly. I'm not sure if I will be continuing with the rest of the series or not.
Since this was a debut novel, I think I might pick up the second one in the hopes that it is an improvement.
