Mirrored Heavens by Rebecca Roanhorse
3.0
The last few chapters of this book were VERY satisfying, but I don't know if it was worth the effort to get there. As much as I adored the first book in this trilogy, books two and three had some serious pacing issues, and the ending felt pretty anticlimactic. Also, I really need these adult fantasy authors to recognize that their readers who are actively reading the books as they come out may not remember every detail of the previous book, and slipping some subtle reminders of what happened to who in previous books into the current one would REALLY help readers to reinvest in the story.
Roanhorse is a fantastic writer and I really enjoyed the unique elements of this fantasy world, but overall I'm left feeling a little detached and underwhelmed by this finale. In the future, I may try to read her work only once full series are completed, so I can read the books one after another.
